The MindLink Post Concussion Clinic opened its doors on the 1st of December 2021

Are you experiencing persisting difficulties with thinking, concentration, sleep or low mood  after a concussion? Is it impacting your work, study or return to sport?  We are here to help.

What is the MindLink Post-Concussion Clinic?

The MindLink Post-Concussion Clinic is a collaborative clinic, developed to assess and treat in a multidisciplinary fashion, individuals who are dealing with ongoing or persisting post-concussion symptoms. Our neuropsychologists collaborate with a consultant neurologist, neurophysiotherapists and exercise physiologists with expertise in post-concussion assessment and treatment.

What is a concussion?

Concussion is a trauma-induced alteration in mental status that usually results from a blow or knock to the head, with or without loss of consciousness. It is typically the result of impact injuries or strikes to the head.

Persisting Symptoms Post-Concussion

In most cases following a concussion, experienced physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms (e.g., nausea, headaches, feeling foggy) resolve after two weeks. However, for some individuals, symptoms (e.g., concentration difficulties or low mood and poor sleep) may be persisting beyond the expected recovery period. These are considered persisting symptoms of post-concussion .

What we offer

  • Assess and identify persisting post-concussion symptoms
  • Strategies to help improve cognitive, sleep and mood difficulties post-concussion
  • Referrals to our collaborators if further investigation is required, based on individual symptoms. For example:
    • Consultation with our collaborating Neurologist.
    • Neuropsychological Assessment
    • Consultation with Neurophysiotherapist and/or Exercise Physiologist
  • Follow-up, if indicated to ensure continuity of care
